About the event
Zoom Lecture by Eleanor Moty, Artist-Metalsmith
Saturday, September 11, 10:00am-12:00pm
Eleanor Moty will show and discuss images of more than fifty years worth of her jewelry and metalwork
and she’ll have several pieces on hand for viewing.
Eleanor Moty is a seminal figure in the field of contemporary international studio jewelry. In a career that has spanned more than fifty years, she has been a dedicated practitioner and a devoted teacher who has inspired suc-ceeding generations of artists, collectors, and fellow professionals. She began to attract national attention in the late 1960s and early 1970s for her pioneering work with photo etching and electroforming metal. Mid-career, Moty made what seemed like an abrupt shift in style and focus, with more abstract works whose designs were inspired by the natural inclusions within the non-precious stones used in their fabrication.
